Deleting your thecomp account

Effective 25 August 2026

You can delete your thecomp account and its data at any time. You do not need the app installed to request deletion.

Option 1 — in the app

1. Open thecomp and sign in.
2. Tap Menu in the bottom bar.
3. Tap your name at the top of the screen.
4. Tap the ⋮ menu in the top corner.
5. Tap Delete account and confirm.

Deletion begins immediately and cannot be undone.

Option 2 — by email

Email support@thecomp.app from the address on your account, with the subject "Delete my account".

If you cannot email from that address, tell us the email address on the account and we will verify your identity before deleting anything. We respond within 30 days and usually much sooner.

What is deleted permanently

• Your sign-in. You will not be able to sign in again.
• Your contact details in every league — email address, phone number, handicap identifier, address, and any custom fields your league organiser recorded.
• Your profile photo and any images you uploaded.
• Your friends, friend requests and notifications, including references to you held in other people's friend lists.
• Any league join codes you created.
• Private rounds where you were the only participant.

This data is removed immediately and is not recoverable.

What is kept, with your name removed

Some records are kept so that other people's competition history and league finances stay accurate. In all of them your name is replaced with a placeholder and your account links are removed.

• Your roster entry in each league you belonged to, marked as a deleted account and set inactive.
• Your scores and results in completed events. Positions and results are preserved so the league's records remain correct for everyone else who took part.
• Your Ledger entries. Amounts, dates and types are preserved so league balances remain correct.
• Venues you added remain available, because other people's results refer to them. Your ownership of them is removed.

These records are pseudonymised rather than anonymous — they no longer identify you directly, but someone who was in that league may still be able to work out who a placeholder refers to.

We keep them because deleting them would corrupt other members' competition records and financial balances.

Asking for more

If you want a retained record removed entirely, email support@thecomp.app. We will weigh your request against the interests of the other people in that league and tell you what we can do.
